The St. Alphonsa's Educational Society, was established in 1979 by a committed group of Christian community educators and like-minded individuals, with Dr. Emmanuel as its chief founder. A prominent educationist, Dr. Emmanuel represented India at the International Conference on Chemical Education at Maryland University in Washington D.C. in 1981. This event, sponsored by NCERT, earned him the prestigious 'Best Teacher' award, presented by the then Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao in the same year.

Mrs. Selvarani Ponnaiah served as the inaugural Chairman of the St. Alphonsa's Educational Development Society, succeeded by Sri Diwakar Francis. The original society underwent a division, giving rise to the formation of St. Alphonsa's Educational Development Society, which is distinguished as a Christian Minority Society, distinct from its predecessor. This Institution owes its stability and growth to JESUS CHRIST.

The Society is an autonomous body and the College is a Minority Christian Educational Institution. While it is primarily intended for Christians, all students, irrespective of caste and creed are also admitted. In matters of administration, the decisions made by the governing body are considered final and binding. Though the college is recognised by the Government of Telangana, it does not receive financial assistance from the government or any other source.
